The piece was conceived as a natural shade, where light filters through the thin leaves.   Wooden Butterfly is a common name for camamile in China and therefore the title Butterfly Twig. Each leaf is imbedded with a camamile seed between hemp papers. The camamile seed is chosen in part for its curative powers and the beauty of its shape.
