Skulls and Bones
In the process of my work, the mystery of the life cycle and the process of extinction are a continual source of wonder and inspiration. Prehistoric life forms to their contemporary counterparts provide visual information and possibilities for new sculptures. Naturally, ecological issues keep reoccurring in the thought process and process of death and decay.
The evolution of the modern man and its representation as the ancestral link is found in large skulls. Our eventual mortality and the knowledge accumulated with the assemblage of found fossils and bones add to the thought process and layers in my sculptured forms.
In my own travels I find bones and collected them along with other unusual natural forms. At times while eating and I encounter whole bones, I study them, contemplating the animal and sometimes choose to render its former life as a trophy or enlarged symbol.
