Seashells and Spirals

Seashells with inherent geometric sense of order, proportion and aesthetics continue to fascinate me. The symmetry of the mollusk contains a kind of overt sexuality as with many forms from the sea refer to reproduction and the life cycle.   In Chinese mythology a nude female spirit inhabits the clam and that association found in numerous cultures.   I have also utilized the spiral forms within the shell in my large-scale public artworks.
