The Philadelphia Criminal Justice Center

13th & Filbert Streets, Philadelphia, PA

Two aluminum spiral ears contain glass time capsules on the innermost curves. The spirals refer to both the cyclic and linear aspects of time, while the actual site of the spirals is symbolic of the physical passage into the inner chambers of the courthouse.  Spiral Ears was designed to spins slowly with the air circulation.  The work can be viewed from the main lobby and the escalators to the court rooms as well.
